"A tribute to the unsung heroine of electronic music." Trial of Derbyshire is a sonic homage to Delia Derbyshire (1937–2001), the legendary mathematician and electronic pioneer who shaped modern ambient and techno. Long before computers or commercial synthesizers, she crafted revolutionary soundscapes completely by hand—painstakingly cutting, splicing, speeding up, and looping physical magnetic tape on vintage reel-to-reel decks. Visually anchored by raw flora reclaiming a vintage tape machine, the music honors her brilliant, solitary "trials" against the limitations of physical tape and the institutional biases of her era. The song begins with fluid, organic melody before being seized by a driving, industrial mechanical rhythm—a representation of human craft meeting the relentless march of the machine. For the pioneers who built the future of sound by hand.
